Myths Busted About Gays and Lesbians

1. FALSE: Lesbians do not shave.

Truth: Lesbians do shave, and enjoy a variety of shaving products including scented gels, name brand razors, wax and threading. We are proud of our vaginas and want them looking their best! (And our legs and armpits too!)

2. FALSE: Gay men are weak.

Truth: Many gay men work out and are affiliated with a fitness centre/or gym. Despite people believing their feminine qualities make them weak, gay men take pride in their appearance.

3. FALSE: Lesbians hate men.

Truth: Lesbians do not hate men, they just love women. And yes, we appreciate a beautiful male in the movies as much as our hetero counterparts do, we just aren't sexually attracted to them! (So men, don't feel bummed out!)

4. FALSE: Gay men dress like girls and wear makeup

Truth: There are a lot of homosexual males in sports and other masculine-related activities. They are buff, manly and can probably kick your ass. They like strong male colognes, immaculate (manly) suits, and chopping down wood for fires, too. Yes, some men do enjoy dressing a bit more feminine, and there is nothing wrong with that either.

5. FALSE: Gays and lesbians can't fit into regular society

Truth: Your boss, a teacher, a neighbour or a grocery clerk is probably gay. You have met gay people in your lifetime and not even known they were gay, believe me. There are gay politicians, Senators, artists, race car drivers everywhere. They are everywhere not just on one street. They don't stand out as much as a tall giraffe as you think.
